In 2008 the Cougars went through a rebuilding process. One that many people thought would lead to an early exit in the playoffs.
So when they met up with undefeated and second ranked Lewis County, the chatter started early from most people thinking this would be a lopsided win for the opponent.
It didn't quite happen that way.
Benjamin Cunningham put on quite a display and despite the late charge, Goodpasture came away with an improbable win over a significantly larger football team.
